Marilyn J. (Banta) McCain, 89, of Oceanport, NJ, died October 19, 2018 peacefully at The Chelsea at Tinton Falls.
Born in Newark, NJ, she was a graduate of Irvington High School. She was employed by New Jersey National Bank as an Office Assistant for 35 years. She was a longtime parishioner of the First Presbyterian Church of Long Branch, NJ, a member of the Asbury Park Women’s Club, Ocean Township, NJ for over 25 years in which she served as President of the club, Board of Trustees and recognized as NJSFWC State Honor Roll and a life member of Eastern Star of Ocean Chapter No. 214. She was a volunteer at Monmouth Medical Center delivering books to patients and was a volunteer at Frank Antonides Elementary School as a teacher assistant/book reader.
She was predeceased by her parents Harriet and Gilbert Banta, her brother Robert Banta and her great nephew JR Banta.
Se leaves behind her loving husband of 54 years Frank McCain, retired Asbury Park Press photographer for 31 years; niece Barbara Banta of Brick, NJ, three nephews James Banta and his wife Carissa of San Angelo, TX, John Banta and his wife Mimi of Alexandria, VA, and Andrew Fornino and his wife Dori of Long Branch, NJ; two great nieces Sarah Banta of Littleton, CO and Claire Banta Moran of Alexandria, VA; two great nephews Jake Banta of Ashville, NC and Justin Fornino of Long Branch, NJ.
Marilyn will be remembered for her sense of humor, laughter, kindness and talented artist. She’ll be sadly missed by family, friends, the staff at The Chelsea and staff of Grace Healthcare. The family wants to thank all that have touch Marilyn’s life and a special thank you to the wonderful care she was given by the staff at The Chelsea and the staff of Grace Healthcare who are angels on earth.
In lieu of traditional floral remembrances, Mrs. McCain’s family has requested that donations be made in her memory, to a charity of your choice.
