Mary A. Ellis, 85, of Rumson passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 13th.
She was born in Englewood, NJ to the late Helen L. & Charles D. Folker. They lived in Bergenfield for a brief period, then Tenafly and moved to Rumson when she was 10 years old where Mary attended Holy Cross School and then graduated from Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School in 1957. Mary was a communicant of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church. There was nothing more important to Mary than her family. She cherished her children and grandchildren. She was their biggest supporter in all they did.
Mary was fortunate to have loved and been loved by two wonderful husbands; Thomas S. Karlo, Sr. who passed in 1971 and John V. Ellis, who passed in 2011. Mary was predeceased by her seven siblings, her brothers Charles, John, William & Edward Folker, her sisters Helen Delehanty, Geraldine Bruno & Ruth Folker and her sons-in-law, Stephen R. Graves & Frank Mazza.
Mary is survived by four children, her daughters Helen L. Graves, Ocean Twp., Mary A. Karlo, Rumson and Stephanie A. Karlo, Verona, her son Thomas S. Karlo, Jr and his fiancé Deirdre J. Ross, Brick, her grandchildren Mars Kalu Graves, Ocean Twp., and Stephanie Cornell Karlo, Verona. She is also survived by her blended family, step-daughters Karen Ellis, Long Branch, Joan Ellis, San Anselmo CA, Virginia Mazza, Shrewsbury and Elizabeth Lunney (John) Little Silver, grandchildren Sarah Mazza, Margaret Mazza, Corey Lunney (Claudia) and great grandchildren Olivia & Logan and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass will be Monday, October 28th 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church, 30 Ward Avenue, Rumson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rumson EMS, The Trevor Project, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
