Mildred Paone of Elberon passed away Friday April 16th at the St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Mrs. Paone was born in Queens, NY and lived there before moving to Long Branch in 1970. She retired from NY Telephone Co. on the Vice President's staff for the business offices. Mrs. Paone was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mrs. Paone was a dedicated Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Her grandchildren were the inspiration of her last years of her life. She was predeceased by her son, James in 2007. Surviving is her loving husband Paolo Paone; her devoted daughter LoriAnne Paone, Long Branch; her adoring grandchildren, Jaime, Eric and Amanda. Visitation will be Sunday April 18th, from 2 to 5 PM at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 19th, on Mildred's birthday, 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. Mildred was my protector at Elks functions when I first dated Jim. Many times she would tell certain first ladies to leave me alone and not critize me because I was clapping instead of holding my hand over my heart as our flag passed by in the parade. I'll always be thankful for her friendship.
