On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, Kiku Ueda Darby of Tinton Falls, NJ passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family.
“Oba”, as Kiku was affectionally called by her family, was born and raised in Shiga-Ken, Japan. She met and married her American soldier, Thomas L. Darby, while he was stationed in Gifu, Japan. They moved to the United States in 1951 and together they raised seven children while traveling across the US and Germany. The family settled in Tinton Falls in 1960.
Oba’s priority in life was the well being of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She often travelled to be with them and to remain a big part of their lives.
She leaves behind her loving children, June Darby, Ruth Eliason, May Sikora, Carol Robinson, Elizabeth Darby and David Darby, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband Thomas L. Darby, Sr and her son Thomas L. Darby, Jr.
She is gone…but will be in our hearts forever. Farewell Oba we love you.
