It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Rebecca Hartman (née Schnuer), 64, of Holmdel, NJ, on February 12, 2025. Nancy is survived by children Diana (Alex) and Gary (Caryn), brother Jimmy, and her dearest grandchildren, Bobby, Zachary, and Elliana, who were truly the light of her world. She was a devoted partner to her beloved Eric, who brought her much joy and companionship, and a generous cousin, niece, and friend to all who knew her.

Nancy was born on Long Island to the late Robert and Edith Schnuer, whom she loved and admired dearly. Though we lost her much too soon, it gives us solace to know she is with them again, sipping on a Snapple while joining in with Bob as he yells at the Giants, or singing show tunes with Edie.

Nancy received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Hartford in 1982. She then followed in her father’s footsteps to enter the insurance business by becoming an accomplished insurance underwriter, most recently at RPS Excel, where she excelled and continued to outperform.

Nancy was willing to see any Broadway musical, with anyone willing to go. She most looked forward to summers by her pool, her next visit with her grandchildren, and, in more recent years, seeing the world with Eric. Nancy was a friend to all. Selfless, kind, and with a keen sense of humor, she would strike up conversations with even strangers, quickly becoming their friend.

Nancy’s greatest joy was her family, and her devotion to her children and grandchildren was unwavering. She was their rock, filled with unconditional support. Her graciousness, love, and zest for life will continue to be their North Star.

We will celebrate her life with a funeral service on Sunday, February 16, 9 AM at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ, 07733. Interment to follow at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704.

Shiva will be held at Nancy and Eric’s home in Holmdel, NJ on Monday, February 17, at 11am-1pm and 4-8pm.

Gary will continue sitting shiva at his home in Manhattan beginning at 3pm on Tuesday, February 18th.

Eric will also continue to welcome visitors in Holmdel from 4-8pm on Tuesday.
