Nicholo Cocuzza, 63 of Highlands, died at Monmouth Medical Center on Monday, June 24th surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 24, 1960, to Grace Tamburo and Sebastian Cocuzza in Newark, N.J. ”Nic” was known for his warmth, wisdom, humor, and zest for life.
Nic had an entrepreneurial spirit and was an innovator on his many business adventures; Gagliano Holdings, CoCo builders, and Cocuzza Construction. He retired from Cocuzza Construction after many years of building homes in North Jersey with his final home being his beloved beach home in Highlands, N.J. Following his retirement, Nic earned his boat captain’s license.
Nic loved all the classic’s in music and was happiest singing his heart out and playing his guitar. He enjoyed boating, spending days out at Sandy Hook, and being around friends and family. Nic was born in Newark N.J. and raised in Irvington. He was a graduate of Irvington High School. Nic was a member of the Mount Carmel Society in Berkeley Heights, N.J.
Nic is predeceased by his sister Josephine Valente.
Surviving Nic is his wife, Dina “Rose” Famulary-Cocuzza; his step daughters, Daniela Benedictis and Drew Mattia, both of the Highlands; his brother Salvatore Cocuzza; his sister Mary, Florida; a host of other friends and family; and his two beloved dogs, Mare~ and Luca Brasi.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 27th, 9:45 am until his funeral mass at 10:00 am at Holy Cross RC Church, 30 Ward Avenue, Rumson, a repass will follow at the Mule Barn on Sandy Hook.
