Patricia “Patti” Blume, 69, of Ocean, lost her battle with cancer. She fought valiantly for 18 months and didn't let the disease get in the way of her living: continuing her book clubs, Mah Jongg and Canasta games. We will miss her dearly, but she left us with a lifetime of “Patti's guidance”.
Patti was born in Brooklyn, NY, and lived in Roselle, NJ, before moving to Ocean. She was a graduate of Asbury Park High School and Monmouth College. From 1997 to 2003 Patti and her family lived in Long Branch before they moved back to Ocean in 2003.
She was a member of Congregation Torat El, Oakhurst, and a former member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Beth Torah. She served on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Monmouth County, where she also served as the Center's President from 1994 to 1996. She was also a member of the Ocean Township Hadassah. Patti served on several state committees for the developmentally disabled as an advocate for her oldest daughter and others in the special needs community.
Surviving is her husband Alan I. Blume; three children: Stephanie Lynn Amato, Neptune, Jenna Kay Andrews and her friend Ryan Alston, Brick and Samantha Allyn Yudilevich and her husband Mark, San Francisco, CA; her siblings: Diane Schwartz and her husband Hank, Estero, FL and Doug Phillips and his wife Karen, Parsippany; a granddaughter, Madison S. Andrews; eight nieces and nephews throughout New Jersey and in Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 2nd, 10:30 am, at Congregation Torat El, 301 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, NJ 07755. Interment will follow at Agudath Achim Cemetery, Neptune.
