Patsy Truglia, of Brick NJ, passed away on Saturday March 6th at 99 years old from natural causes. He was born on February 15, 1922, in Long Branch NJ to Caterina and Onofrio Truglia. Pat attended Long Branch High School and achieved the rank of Sergeant Technician Fourth Grade in the Army, serving as a Medic in the Philippines during WWII. While on a two-week leave in 1944, he married Anna Caporrino, who predeceased him in 2001.
Pat was a founding member and lay pastor of Bethel Bible Chapel in River Plaza, which he attended until his passing. Bethel was not only his place of worship, but also his passion and life’s work. He lived to share the good news of Jesus Christ with everyone. He was a gifted teacher, preacher, and he counseled numerous individuals and couples over the years.
He is survived by his wife Lillian, her children and grandchildren, his sister Antoinette Sacco, who turned 100 this month, his children Dunewood Truglia, Esq., and Ileen Truglia, Patsy and Jack Guttenplan, his grandchildren Adam and Erica Guttenplan, Ariel and Matthew Maroldi, and Aaron Guttenplan, Esq., David Truglia and Sarah and Jared Johnson. He lived to meet his three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Leah and Ella.
Pat was the patriarch of our family and his life was a living example of his strong faith. He is beloved by his family and community. He loved telling jokes and had many favorites that he would tell and retell over the years.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 11th at Woodbine Mausoleum, Eatontown Boulevard, Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bethel Bible Chapel, 480 West Front Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701 are welcome.
