Paul Dennis Hlavaty, Sr. entered into eternal rest on April 6, 2021 after a brave and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s. He peacefully passed away at home in Holmdel, NJ surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born on December 19, 1942 in Newark, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Paul John and Sophie (nee Butkiewicz) Hlavaty. A proud Jersey boy at heart, Paul grew up in Linden, NJ and moved to various areas in the state. His proudest moments were when he settled with his beloved family in Holmdel, NJ. Although NJ was his permanent home, his second residence dear to his heart was in Hillsboro Beach, Florida. Paul was a graduate of Linden High School, received his undergraduate degree from Monmouth University and went on to obtain his MBA from Farleigh Dickenson University. Education always important to him, so was his work ethic. Paul had a lifetime career in Sales Services for various hoist & crane companies throughout the state that serviced NY/NJ/Connecticut area. He had a passion for his work yet his most fun was working alongside his best buddy Frank in his later years before retirement.
Paul married the love of his life, Katherine (Kathy) Hlavaty in 1978 and together they were blessed with the birth of their two children, Lauren Ann (Annie) Hlavaty and Paul Dennis Hlavaty, Jr. Paul shared with his family the love of the ocean and beach, fishing, boating, a variety of music (some of his favorites include Frank Sinatra, Al Jarreau and the Beach Boys) and the New York Giants. He is a guy who should be remembered for truly enjoying the simple things in life; some include him being home watching his movies and TV shows, reading the NY Post and weekend New York Times over a cup of coffee, eating bagels, hamburgers and pizza, and on special occasions toasting with a Manhattan up.
He is survived by his loving wife Katherine Hlavaty of Holmdel, loving son Paul Dennis Jr and his wife Joanne, his beloved granddaughters Savannah Grace and Lilliana Sofie of Austin, Texas; devoted daughter Lauren Annie and partner Keith James of Hoboken/Weehawken, NJ. He is also survived by many loved ones including nieces, cousins and his favorite furry ones Caputo, Santana and Kasper.
Visitation Tuesday, April 13th 10:00 – 11:00 am at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11:30 am at Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel.
