Paul Emposimato, Jr., 86, of Holmdel, passed away Thursday, surrounded by his family.
Paul was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, graduating from Weequahic High School. Following high school, Paul joined the army, serving his country for four years, including time on the border of East/West Germany, before being honorably discharged. Soon after his first job in a mail room of a brewing company, Paul switched to the air freight industry, working his way up the corporate ladder of several companies before ultimately starting his own freight forwarding corporation in 1978. What started out as a one room office shared by all employees, the company later grew to be the largest privately owned international freight forwarder in the United States, with fifty worldwide offices.
Paul married the love of his life, Joyce, in 1961, at St. Mary’s Church in Nutley, and the two would move several times before settling in Roselle Park, New Jersey to raise their young family. Paul enjoyed harness racing, eventually owning his own stable of horses, a hobby he enjoyed to this day. To Paul, family was absolutely everything, and he especially relished all the time he could with his grandchildren, providing guidance and support with every visit.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Joyce Emposimato; his children Paul Emposimato III and Susan Emposimato-Palisi and her husband Thomas Palisi; and his beloved grandchildren Erica, Alexa, Thomas, and Olivia.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered Saturday, June 17th at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Catherine Roman Catholic Church, 108 Middletown Rd, Holmdel. The entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association; www.heart.org.
