Phyllis M. Yager, 90 of Long Branch, died on Saturday, October 30.
She was born in Long Branch to the late Mabel and Richard Frances Duane in 1931 and was raised there, graduating from Long Branch High School in 1949.
After graduating, Phyllis began to work for Bell Telephone Company until she met her husband who was serving in the military. They both traveled worldwide with their new family to Germany, France, Virginia, Alaska, and finally settled in West Long Branch then Long Branch.
Phyllis enjoyed talking to people. She made friends everywhere she went and developed the nickname “Weather Woman Phyllis”. She also enjoyed bowling, karaoke, daytime television, watching the horse races at Monmouth Park, and sitting down with her friends at McDonald’s to enjoy coffee in the morning with them. Phyllis especially loved traveling yearly with her friend to the Teddy Bear Festival in Peddler’s Village in Lancaster PA. Most of all, she liked spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by her parents, her son Bobby Yager, and sister Jean Prall.
Surviving are her children Patti and her husband Michael Dibling of Georgia, Linda Yager of Georgia, and Susan and her husband Wade Hatchett of Texas, five grandchildren Kevin, Michelle, Sarah, Tracy, and Kristin, and two great-grandchildren Knox and Demetrius.
Visitation Thursday, November 4 from 4pm – 8pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. A service at the funeral home will be offered on Friday, November 5 at 11am. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
