Phyllis Zuckerman, 91, passed away peacefully at Jersey Shore Medical Center on May 1, 2022.
Born June 2, 1930, in Hoboken, New Jersey to Sam and Lena Levy, she was the youngest of five children. Phyllis graduated Demarest High School in Hoboken, attended secretarial school, and worked in the New York Garment District.
Married for 69 years to Murray Zuckerman, they raised four children and resided in Long Branch, N.J. Phyllis and Murray moved to Long Branch in 1952, a year after they were married and opened Third Avenue Glass des Arts. Together they ran the business for 37 years until they retired in 1989.
They belonged to Congregation Brothers of Israel in Long Branch. During this time, Phyllis was active with both the Sisterhood and Hadassah. An avid volunteer, Phyllis loved working at Monmouth Medical Center, Seabrook Village and tutoring elementary school students in reading.
Phyllis’ legacy continues as she is survived by her four children; David of Jacksonville Beach, FL.; Sam of Little Neck, New York; Abbie of Manhattan, NYC; and Steven of N.J.; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Jennie, Jason, Omry, Ariel, Adi and Alena and one great-grandchild, Theo, all of whom adored her as the matriarch of the family.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Monmouth Fields Jewish Cemetery, West Long Branch on Monday May 2 at 2pm.
