Rev. Dennis M. Foley, C.Ss.R. of the Redemptorist Community of San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, NJ died on June 6, 2021. Born in Brooklyn in 1934, the son of the late John and Mary Foley, Fr. Foley’s sixty years of priestly ministry included pastoral assignments in Redemptorist parishes, the preaching of parish missions and novena devotions to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and retreat ministry for the last 25 years at San Alfonso. Fr. Dennis was beloved by many who were blessed by his deep faith, gentle spirit, and kind heart, not to mention his love of history, reading, and dancing!
In addition to his parents, Fr. Foley was predeceased by his siblings Martin Foley, Mary Dougherty, James Foley, John Foley, Eileen Scherback, Catherine Hammond, and Ann Karr. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Catherine Foley, his 28 devoted nieces and nephews, his many grandnieces and grandnephews, his many friends, and his confreres in the Redemptorist community.
Services for Father Foley will take place at San Alfonso Retreat House at 755 Ocean Ave in Long Branch, New Jersey on Saturday, June 12. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial in the Retreat House Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date.
