Richard "Bo" J. Bohnert, Jr.

July 30, 1965 - August 4, 2026

Richard Joseph Bohnert Jr., 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on July 30, 1965, in Long Branch, New Jersey, Bo spent his life in Monmouth County, where he built a life centered on family, sports, and serving his community. He dedicated many years to Shore Regional High School, where he was known for his kindness, willingness to help, and unwavering support of the athletic program and its students.

Bo’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Elizabeth Bohnert; his brother, Kevin Bohnert; his children, RJ, Morgan, and Hayley Bohnert; his cherished grandson, Ryder and wife, Karen Bohnert; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Joseph Bohnert Sr.

A lifelong sports fan, Bo proudly cheered for the Mets, the Raiders, and, depending on the day, the Jets. He will be remembered for his generous heart, quick wit, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His kindness and the impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 7th from 4:00-7:00 PM at Branches Restaurant, 123 Monmouth Road, West Long Branch.

Bo my friend from long ago… Memories will never be forgotten, nor will the smile and laughter that you left with me. They say that youth is wasted on the young, not in your case… You, and our small group of friends proved that…even to this day! Love you, buddy. See you on the other side. In Christ + Tony

Mr. B was a huge influence and supporter of my sister and I in high school, always enjoyed our chats throughout the school day and couldn't help but crack a smile when I saw him. Was so grateful to have the opportunities to go into Shore post grad and still see him! So sorry for the loss and my condolences, I'll really miss him.

Mr. B was simply an outstanding representative of what an educator, mentor and figure of integrity should be. Huge and positive influence on my son and daughter. Thank you Mr. B. You will be well remembered and never forgotten.

My buddy Rich, May you rest peacefully as your presence will always be with us as the most school spirited person I know! My partner in crime, my buddy and the man who truly pulled me through the "athletic world" "Hey Rich is this a hockey stick or a Lax stick?" LOL Your appreciated everyone as we all appreciated you! I can still hear his voice in the halls and on the ball fields at Shore. His presence will be missed but not forgotten. The good times and memories will always be with you.

A great man and influence. He brought a joy to the room everytime. Mr Bohnert represented Shore Regional with a welcoming and open heart with a smile on his face at all times. Sports talk with him never disappointed which would always make my day. The little things he did helped brighten everyone’s day. He will truly be missed. 💙
