I was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Bobby's father, Dr. Monaco. Bobby and I have known each other since college, going back 27and 1/2 years. I once had the privilege of spending almost three weeks with the Monaco's, when they were living in Colt's Neck, back in Aug. 2003. I had just graduated from my second college, and I badly needed a break. Dr. Monaco showed me such great hospitality the entire time. He was always concerned with whether I was fed enough, comfortable in my room, etc. We had some great conversations as well. Dr. Monaco was amazingly humble given how he was such a leader in his field of medicine. To the Monaco family: be assured of my prayers.

Dear Susan , Ed and family, I am terribly sorry for your loss . Rob was certainly the most accomplished person I have probably ever know. I grew up as a teenager under that lamppost on 266th in Floral Park . I do remember him telling me under that lamppost that he worked cleaning toilets on buses so he would have spending money while in college. I knew back then he had an unbelievable work ethic to be admired. I remember being quite stunned at his humility. As I certainly was not working that hard. Years later He and Susan had wonderful pool party reunions for the “266th street gang “ at their lovely home in New Jersey . We were blessed as teenagers to have shared such a carefree time in our lives. Thanks for the wonderful memories Rob. Love Marge

I'm so sorry to hear of Robert's passing. I'd like express my feelings via a letter to a person I have always liked and respected. Rob, It’s me, Marty. We grew up together in Floral Park and spent many hot Summer days playing stickball in the street. We walked to the Floral Theater to see movies. One time during the Christmas holiday we had free tickets to a full length movie and a day of cartoons. I left with a headache. Many days and evenings we just sat on your parent's front porch talking and laughing. When we were older, we spent nights under the street lamp in front of my parent’s house. There were garage parties, where we socialized with the girls. When we had cars, there were trips to Jones Beach. We also went to Sunken Meadow Park for cook-outs. We played softball and rented row boats and raced all over the lake. (Thankfully, the water was shallow, I never learned to swim.) We always laughed. I remember the time at Coney Island you and I went on that scarry over/under rocket ride. Never again. We spent many nights at the Picture Lounge. I remember the night we went from there to Jones Beach to see the sunrise. (That was the night my car was towed from the Carvel parking lot.) Then came college. I went to engineering school and moved to the DC area after graduation. You went upstate to start on your well-chosen career in medicine. You excelled at everything you did. Whenever we met, you never talked much about your accomplishments. I learned of them from others. These are some of the things we shared. We always remained friends. It has been a privilege and an honor to have known you. Your friend forever, Marty Ps I never really chewed gum from that mailbox. I faked the whole thing. Anything for a laugh. 3/14/25
