Robert Edward Twiste, 78, of Hazlet, passed away Sunday surrounded by his family at Monmouth Medical Center after a long and courageous battle.

Bob, as he was always known, was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. He attended the local high school and then went on to graduate from Wagner College and Brooklyn Law School to become a lawyer in 1969.

Bob married a childhood friend and the love of his life, Barbara. The two began dating in 1962 and were married in 1965; celebrating 56 years this year. They would welcome five children into their lives. Despite the tragic loss of their son, Kyle, they would go on to raise four successful adults who he remained close to throughout their lives.

He loved cars and had an uncanny ability to recall every make, model, and accompanying details of all the automobiles in the family over the years. He also had a lifelong passion for sports.  He played football and baseball for decades, including softball well into his 60’s, and watched professional games on TV, especially his beloved Yankees, though he would always swear it was never their year.

In addition, he was a history buff and an avid reader that amassed a huge collection of books on his favorite subjects – war, politics, and Native Americans.  Bob also enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S., Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. His knowledge, memories, wit, and humor will be sorely missed.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Barbara of Hazlet, his children Eric Twiste of Manhattan, Craig Twiste and his wife Joanne of Puerto Rico, Christian Twiste and his wife Lisa of Califon, and Tara D’Ambrosio and her husband Matthew of Hazlet, and his beloved grandchildren Caitlin, Kyle, Nate, Will, Juliet and Ray.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 8^th from 4:00-6:30 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Service will follow at 6:30 at the Holmdel Funeral Home.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 10^th at 11:00 AM at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY. For those interested, a procession will leave the Holmdel Funeral Home at 9:45 AM.
