Robert William Stewart, 80, of Ocean Township, Monmouth County and Mahwah, Bergen County passed away on August 29, 2024. He was born in Englewood, NJ and lived in Holmdel, Colts Neck, Long Branch, Ocean and Mahwah, NJ. He was a graduate of Freehold Regional High School, Monmouth County Technical School and attended Brookdale Community College. He was a mechanical engineer and tool and die maker. He was the President of Stewart’s Tool & Die Company in Colts Neck, NJ until his retirement.
He was devoted to the Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder, Trustee, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher to the Long Branch Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Church on the Hill in Ocean, NJ. He was a lifelong devoted Yankee fan and ever faithful Cowboy fan. He loved to coach youth-team sports and served as a Little League Coach and a Cub Scout Leader in Ocean. He was a Master Counselor of the Aberdeen Chapter of the DeMolay Order in Keyport in his youth.
He was married for 60 years to the love of his life, Leslie E. Stewart. Together they were devoted to their family, children, grandchildren, pets, nieces, nephews, and many friends. They enjoyed their many trips and were devoted to their faith in God.
He is predeceased by his parents, Maybelle and Herbert Stewart, and brother Wayne Stewart. He is survived by his wife, Leslie; their three children: Sara and Steve Schumann of Chicago, IL; Kristian and David Carney of Allendale, NJ; and Robert and Dawn Stewart of Park Ridge, NJ. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Sean Schumann, Skyler Schumann, Alyssa Carney, Jessica Carney, Isabella Carney, David C. Carney, Ryan Stewart, Erika Stewart and Lauren Stewart. He is survived by his brother: Roger and Janice Stewart, and sisters Sharon and Paul Wessel, and Sally Donofrio and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday September 7, 2024 from 10:00 – 12:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM with burial to follow at the Holmdel Cemetery, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ.
