Scott van den Berg left a message on November 6, 2019:
When Cory scored his first ice hockey goal (even though it was a deflection), Roger and Joyce were standing next to me at the Winding River outdoor rink during a house league game. It was during that game I learned they were the proud grandparents of the best little hockey player I can remember watching on the ice... Luc. That was the day I met Roger and there were many other days where I had more than enjoyable conversations with him and Joyce. I was extremely saddened to hear of Roger's passing, but I am happy to have gotten to know him over the past nine years. I wish I had a chance to say goodbye, but this is my only avenue left! I hope everyone he touched will be able to move on with his memory guiding them. Goodbye Mr. Barnett! I always looked forward to speaking with you no matter how short the interactions may have been over the years.
Barbara Coyne left a message on September 7, 2019:
To the Barnett family, I extend my deepest sympathies for your loss. I want to share my last memory of Roger. It was at Rob’s wedding and I remember how ecstatic Roger was. He was clearly overjoyed with being a grandfather and so proud of his family. I remember thinking he has to be the happiest guy on earth.

I’m still in shock knowing you are no longer with us. I will miss you so very much! We have had so many wonderful times together, you were more than just my uncle, you were a very big part of my life growing up! We have had so many good times over the years, too many to even name, but I will never forget your sense of humor and infectious laugh. As a little girl you always knew how much I loved Disney, and your impersonation of Donald Duck alway made me laugh. No matter how many times I asked you to do it, you always would because you knew it made me happy. And you sounded just like him too. When I grew up and had a daughter of my own, you treated her like she was your own granddaughter. The joy in your face when Ashlee called you Uncle Bubba was priceless and for you to embrace her and let her change your name that day forever, well, that made me proud to call you my uncle. From that day on you became uncle Bubba, and it became exclusively your affectionate nickname. You will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts! RIP Uncle Roger, Also known as Uncle Bubba!
Robin Barnett left a message on September 6, 2019:
You welcomed me into your family and have shown me unconditional love and kindness ever since. Your smile and laughter always made me feel like everything was going to be ok. You’ve been a friend and the best grandpa. Luc and I are blessed to have had you in our lives. You will be missed and loved everyday. R.I.P Lyle.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Dad, you had an immeasurable impact on my life, my son’s life, our whole family’s lives, and that of everyone you’ve ever touched. I love you so much and already miss you terribly. We have so many pictures of you smiling with us, your friends, and especially at your grandchildren. You smiled at everyone, even in the hospital in the some of the most difficult moments. Forever smiling... Thank you, Dad... for everything!

I’m not sure how best to express my fondness for Roger, other than to say there will always be warmth in my heart when I think of him. I’m blessed to have been a part of the family through Scott, and am beyond grateful that I got to see Roger one last time before his passing. He is loved and he will be missed.
Mindy Barnett left a message on September 6, 2019:
Dad, to say that I am heartbroken over your passing is an understatement. You were the best father-in-law a girl could ask for. In many ways, you were a better father to me than my own father was, and for that, I will be forever grateful. Thank you for being such a positive influence and role model for all whom you've left behind. Scott and I are prouder now more than ever that we honored you with giving your name as Logan's middle name. You will live on forever in our hearts. Love you and miss you immensely, Mindy

Dear Joyce and family, I cannot express the sorrow I feel for your loss. We have been friends for many years and we have always tried to be there for each other. It has been an honor to know Roger and his beautiful family for all these years. I will always remember him as a caring and happy person. And I will be there when you need me to help in anyway I can.
Scott Pinheiro left a message on September 6, 2019:
So sorry to hear this news. Roger was a friend and mentor for the last 20 plus years. He hired a green and untested financial advisor and together we shaped a long standing working relationship. I am forever grateful for his guidance. Finance was our cornerstone but family came first. Every discussion we ever had started with an update on Joyce the boys and the grandchildren along with conversation on how Debbie and I were doing. A true sports nut and a mutual Met fan. Got to have faith. Joyce and family my deepest condolences. Focus on the wonderful memories. Peace somehow. Scott

One of the few people in my life I considered a true role model. How many times throughout the years I would ask myself, "what would Uncle Roger do in this situation?" I will miss your wisdom, sense of humor and kindness.

Our prayers go out to the Barnett family. Even though we haven’t talked in years I have some great memories of Roger. My first thought of Roger always takes me back to the morning after the 1986 Kentucky Derby and having brunch with Roger and Joyce in Lexington. Roger always had a smile on .A true gentleman.
