Rose “Sissy” DeFelice, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 28th, 2022. Born in Hoboken, NJ. Sissy was the daughter of Adele Perigot Pompliano and Anthony Pompliano. She had three siblings, Eugene Pompliano, Marion Barbo, and Helen Pompliano who all predeceased her.
She started her bookkeeping career at the U.S. Maritime Commission in Hoboken and then worked for the Fuller Motor Company, Union City. In 1966 she founded the L.A.D. Insurance Agency with her husband Lenny in Shrewsbury, NJ.
Sissy was a loving mother and caring wife. She was married to Leonard DeFelice (predeceased) for 41 years. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Richard) DelCore of Bluffton, SC and Maryann (Bill) Gowen of Forked River, NJ. She leaves behind four loving grandchildren, Amanda (Alex) Bamberger, Nicholas (Sarah) DelCore, Brian (Catherine) Gowen, and Drew (Paige) Gowen. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, her niece Lorraine (Chuck) Wolfe and nephew John (Jennifer) Barbo.
Sissy lived in Lincroft for 53 years and was a member of St. Leo the Great Church. Her greatest pleasure was being with her family, especially spending time with them on beach vacations. Her other passions were bowling and rooting for the NY Yankees whether at the stadium or from her home. Sissy was an avid walker well into her 90’s, enjoyed reading biographies, making her “not-to-be duplicated” pasta sauce for family, and never missed the opportunity to dance. She would share her asked-for advice and opinion with honesty but always given with love and concern. Her time with us will always be treasured.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 3rd, 4 to 8 pm at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, June 4th, 9:30 am at St. Leo the Great Church, Lincroft. Entombment will follow at Fairview Mausoleum, Middletown.
Her family would like to thank Jersey Shore University Medical Center Hospice for the tender care they gave Sissy. In lieu of flowers the family requests with gratitude memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org
