Shirley M. Zeisel, 86, of Red Bank, passed away peacefully at her home Monday, September 6, 2010. Born in Elmont, NY in 1923, to Morris and Sophie Weinstein, Mrs. Zeisel and her late husband lived in Shrewsbury, Little Silver and Red Bank for more than 50 years. She had served as Executive Assistant to the President of Brookdale Community College when it was established in 1967. She was Business Manager of the Colts Neck School System for many years. Mrs. Zeisel was an artist who took classes through the Monmouth County Park System, where she developed many dear friendships. An avid reader, she loved nature and the arts. She also took special joy in spending time with family and friends. She attended Monmouth Reform Temple where she was a member of the Social Action Committee. Pre-deceased by her parents, her sister Marian Smolin, and her beloved husband of 64 years, Melvin Zeisel, Shirley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laura Zeisel and David Strong of Plainfield, VT; her daughter, Marsha Zeisel of Monmouth Junction; her loving sisters Annette Laster of Rockaway, NJ and Elaine Singer of Aberdeen, MD; and her treasured grandchildren Sara Strong Farrell, Elizabeth Strong, and Emma Zeisel.
