Shirley Reed Reinhard, 88, of Marlboro passed away late Wednesday night surrounded by her family.
Shirley was the only child of Ruth Ritter Reed and Lawrence Frank Reed. Raised in Bethlehem, PA, she graduated from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts with a dual major in Chemistry and Math. She then furthered her studies at Rutgers University with a Masters degree in Statistics. Shirley worked at Bell Labs where she met the love of her life, Richard M Reinhard Jr. Married in 1967, Shirley and Dick had two children, Richard III and Ruth, who they raised in Mendham, NJ. Shirley and Dick were happily married for 54 years.
Shirley loved traveling, knitting, playing bridge and was an avid golfer. Of all of her travel adventures, Italy was her favorite. She always enjoyed their annual trips to Ocean City, NJ. Most of all, Shirley loved her family. She wanted nothing more than to spend time with her husband, two children, and three grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Frank Reed and Ruth Ritter Reed.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband Richard Reinhard Jr. of Marlboro, NJ; her children Richard Reinhard III and his wife Susan of Memphis, TN, and Ruth Davis and her husband Garrett of Holmdel, NJ, and her beloved grandchildren Richard Reinhard IV, Spencer Davis and Ella Davis.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 24th from 3:00-5:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A prayer service will be offered Monday, October 25th at 10:30 AM at Central Moravian Church, 73 W. Church Street, Bethlehem, PA.
