Sofia Gasparatos, 87, of Old Bridge, passed away on Monday, February 3rd, surrounded by her family. 

Sofia was born and raised in Patras, Greece. She was one of seven children born to Richard and Grace Skelmbonaki. She became a seamstress and would later marry Anthony Gasparatos.  The two, along with their son, Andrew, immigrated to the United States in 1968. The settled  in Fort Lee, New Jersey where they would raise their children and stay for 50 years. 

When Sofia came to the United States, she continued working as a seamstress in high-end dress shops. Her hard work helped support her family, because she always put family first.  She will be sorely missed. 

Sofia is predeceased by her loving husband Anthony. 

Sofia is survived by her children Andrew Gasparatos and his wife Diane, and Susanna Lodzinski and her husband Dean; her 2 siblings in Greece; and her beloved grandchildren Christina, Carolena, and Christopher. 

Visitation will be Thursday, February 6th from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel NJ 07733. A mass will be offered on Friday, February 7th at 10:00 AM at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 20 Hillcrest Rd, Holmdel. A burial will follow at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery.
