My deepest sympathy to Steve's family. I simply loved Steve. We worked together at HP and shared accounts, lunches, dinners and many laughs. Steve was a beautiful human being. Steve always referred to Harriet as his "bride" and that just put a smile on my face. He was a thoughtful and caring human being, I shall miss him.

Peter and Deb Levitov left a message on March 14, 2021:
Steve was one of a kind, a very special guy. He was my only male cousin and I knew him from the time he was born. Although we lived far from each other, we maintained a close and always humorous relationship. He was Steverino. I was Pietro. Steve was always upbeat, long before he ever had an ailment. His positivity was infectious and uplifted everyone in his company. As a kid, I remember going crabbing in the Navesink River with him and his father, my Uncle Ed. He had fun at whatever he did and made sure others with him did as well. Over the years I knew he was a pillar of his community and the rock of his family. Deb and I will miss him and send our condolences to Harriet, Jake, Dave, Robin, their families and all others he touched,

Sal Perrotta left a message on March 14, 2021:
There are no words to express the depth of my sorrow for the loss of Steve. Steve and I met at Digital Equipment where we were both employed. Some years later we were working together on the same team and our friendship grew into a relationship that I will always treasure. Many of us have childhood friends that we value for life. When Steve and I grew closer we were not children however we both know that our friendship was more than what most men talk about, but I knew it was a gift, and for me a blessing. Some years ago my wife was very ill and I was in and out of work doing my job and taking care of her the best I could. Everyday Steve came to my desk and was ready to take on anything he could to insure I was free to leave and be with my family. He helped me get through some very difficult times. I will never forget his kindness, his laugh and his warmth. Harriet, Steve comforted me many times. One day I was very upset and tears came, I could not hold them back and like always Steve was there for me. He told me that things would get better and they did but he also told me something I have never forgot, he put his arm around me and said that he known's the future seems overwhelming, always remember that life comes one moment at a time. What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. I will always cherish that fact that I knew Steve Straus, a dear friend and warm and caring person. Harriet I know Steve will be missed and I share in your sorrow. Please know I always have wonderful memories of him. Sal Perrotta

Dear Uncle Teve, *fist bump* I’ve been thinking through some of the memories that we’ve shared. Every image I have is of you smiling, every sound is of your contagious laugh and every feeling includes your warmth. Your positivity only grew as things worsened- you were so brave. You made an impact on everyone in your life and you’ll be greatly missed. Love you

Steve was Mr Congeniality a gentlman and a true “pal”. His uplifting spirit will always be remembered. I remember him for being so positive and supportive. My parents held Steve in high regard. He worked for Traffic Lines, as many of my friends did during school years. He was a part of a group of guys I will always remember as bonded in lasting friendship even when not together . Even though it’s been years since we shared experiences, those memories are indelible and forever in my mind. I can even hear his voice in my head to this day! I was from Red Bank and Steve was from Little Silver. We grew up in different towns initially, but when I first met him we became fast and lasting friends. We double dated, we snuck drinking beer together in my parents basement! We laughed and joked together. We shared so much together. Steve was part of those formative years in our lives. Etienne , as we called him ( that’s Steven in French), was a piece of work. I will always remember Steve for the fun loving guy that he was. His humor and joy will be missed but not forgotten. Sarge(Gary) My condolences to Steve’s wife Harriet and Family. We were all blessed by his life.
