Susanne Fortunato Yates, 69, of Old Bridge, passed away surrounded by her family.
Sue was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York until the age of 15 when she moved to Marlboro. She would go on to graduate from Marlboro High school and begin her career at Johnson and Johnson. She would marry her high school sweetheart, Mark, in 1978 and they would settle in Hillsborough, NJ to raise their young family. Susanne would retire from work to be a stay-at-home mom but eventually returned to the work force in HR, working her way up to be an executive.
Susanne enjoyed the beach, her poker club, Italian food, traveling, hanging with friends and above all else she enjoyed her time with her family. While in Hillsborough, Sue was an active member of the PTAs, Shields (Paramount) Gymnastics community, Hillsborough High School Gymnastics community and coached and played softball as an adult. In the last few years, she has especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful and loving woman who will be sorely missed.
Susanne is predeceased by her husband Mark Yates; and her son Eric Yates.
Susanne is survived by her daughter Kimberly Hess and her husband Jon of Maryland; her brother Joseph Fortunato; and her beloved grandchildren Andrew, Kinley, and Ryan.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 13th from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733. A service will be offered at 3:30 PM. Following the service at Susanne’s wishes she will be privately cremated.
