Susie Mazonis, 87 of Keyport died on Monday, Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
She was born and raised in Newark before moving to Monmouth County and settling in Keyport. Susie was the matriarch of her family and always participated in all family events.
In addition to her commitment to family, Susie was a hard worker and willing to pitch-in whenever help was needed. This was demonstrated throughout her life in support of her family and friends, and especially via her dedicated volunteer efforts to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Susie will be remembered for being a loving mother, a gentle grandmother, a kind friend, and a sweet caring person who possessed a strong faith which guided her throughout her life. Susie enjoyed spending time with family, socializing with friends, watching old movies, and an occasional trip to Atlantic City. Her holiday lasagnas were always everyone’s favorite.
She is predeceased by her parents, Arcangelo and Lucia Berardi. Surviving is her three children, Michael Berardi and his wife, Cynthia, Peter Mazonis and his partner MaryJo Denton; Michelle Smalley and her husband Brian; her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, included Nicholas, Michael, Christopher, and Tyler. Susie is also survived by her three siblings, Clara Fiorito, Angelo Berardi, and Anthony Berardi and a plethora of nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Visitation Sunday, Nov. 21st, 1 to 4 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, Nov. 22nd, 9:15 AM, Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum.
