Sylvia F. Vlecides, 80 of Holmdel, NJ died on May 24th with her loving family by her side.
Sylvia was raised in Baltimore, MD, where she and her family were active parishioners of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Annunciation. At this church, she was in the choir and later would be married to her husband, Constantine, in 1975. When they settled in Holmdel in 1986, they became active parishioners of Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church.
Sylvia was valedictorian of her high school class and went on to graduate from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy with honors. Following this, she became one of the first female pharmacists in Maryland. Her caring nature was present in her work.
She loved the beach, the boardwalk, and many family trips over the years to Ocean City, MD. Most of all she loved her family. She will be remembered as a strong, smart, dedicated, and loving woman. She meant the world to her family and made a lasting impact on those who knew her.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Constantine “Dean” Vlecides, whom she married on June 1st, 1975; their son and daughter-in-law, Dean Paul and Suzanne Vlecides, Holmdel; her granddaughters, Alexandra and Madeleine; her brother, F. Peter Frangakis, Timonium, MD; her godson and nephew, Paul Frangakis; her nephew, Mark Frangakis; her niece, Anne Johnson.
Visitation Tuesday, May 31st, 10 am until the time of the service at 12 noon, at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Church, 20 Hillcrest Road, Holmdel. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
