Tommy was a good friend during high school, and I am so deeply saddened to learn of his passing. But even in sadness, it's impossible to think of Tommy without smiling. You'll be missed, Tommy, and your spirit and laughter will never be forgotten. With love and sympathy - Laura Schumann

I was deeply saddened to hear of Tommy's passing. He was such an unforgetable character. The most intelligent and witty person that I have ever known. My deepest condolences to the Waters family. Tommy was truly loved and will always be remembered.

I had so much fun with Tommy when I knew him best during the latter part of HS, throughout college and into young adulthood. He was always fun to be around. Whenever friends reflect on Tommy, two things are always mentioned invariably, he was always one of the funniest and also one of the smartest people we know. When we were much younger, perhaps 10 or 11, I didn't know him as well then as a neighbor across the creek, I remember how mad he'd get that the ice fishermen would chop holes in the ice on the creek, inhibiting the opportuity to have a perfect hockey skating surface. He tried to sway them with the cute, irresistable little boy approach...."Please mister, can't you do your fishing some place else?...". I don't think it worked but I was entertained watching him try. I last saw Tommy at the Exxon station on Newman Springs Road in Red Bank early summer I believe. It was about 6:30 and I was in the convenience store grabbing coffee, and I saw Tommy perusing the shelves for something. It was one of those mornings - in a hurry - tired - would have been easy to bail on the whole "hello how are you" routine. But since I hadn't seen him in a couple of years, I went over and we had a brief but very pleasant hello and catch-up. One last thought. Tommy was loyal and never forgot a good turn. I was much bigger than Tommy in college and one time stood between him and some guy who was giving him a hard time. I scarcely remember the incident, but for the fact that almost never did he fail to mention his appreciation to me when we were together.

Meeting Tommy was one of my earliest memories- we used to play in the driveway of your first house on Wardell, the one closer to Rumson Rd. than the one in later years. Throughout the rest of our childhood, Tom always had a smile and the glad hand whenever we would meet. He was always off on the next adventure, always looking for, or providing the next hardy laugh. I'm sad to say I'd lost touch with him as adults, and this news was shocking and painful. We wish you all peace and send our prayers during this time. He will be missed.

Rest in peace my old friend. I was always amazed by the amount of people you knew. I'm sure you'll know everyone in heaven as well. I will always remember the good times we had together. I know it was tough for you growing up without your father around. Now you are with him and your sister in heaven.
