Victor S. Rhodes, Sr. 86 of Aberdeen passed away at Bayshore Community Hospital on Monday, Dec. 28th.
Vic was born in Williamstown, MA. He and his family moved to Holmdel, where he graduated Keyport High School in 1953. Vic met his beloved wife Joan, during their time at Keyport High. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served proudly in Korea. He returned home to start Vic Rhodes Inc. Building Contractors. He and his wife Joan built two homes in Holmdel where they lived before moving to Aberdeen six years ago. He later became a building inspector and code enforcement officer for Holmdel, Union Beach, Middletown and Keyport. He also served on the Board of Health in Holmdel for many years.
He was a 64 year member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Hazlet. Vic was avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many trips to Canada and throughout the United States. He and his family enjoyed boating and water skiing on lakes and in the bay. He will always be remembered for his Kindness, love and the gentle husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend he was to all.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Joan Rhodes; their children, Victor S. Rhodes, Jr and his wife Terri, of Keyport and Melanie Pfleger and her husband Chuck of Holmdel; his siblings, Peter and Dorothy Rhodes, FL; Paula Jensdotter, Vermont and Karen Dunlap, New Hampshire; his sister-in-law, Jean Halloran, Florida; his grandchildren, Tyler Rhodes, Angela and Tim Pfleger; and his nieces and nephews.
Visitation Wednesday Dec. 30th, 3 to 7 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Funeral services Thursday, Dec. 31st, 10 am at the funeral home.
