We are saddened to say that our Father, Virendra Chunilal Barot, “Vic,” passed away on July 17, 2024. He was born in Ahmadabad, India, on August 20, 1937. Here, he grew up alongside his older brother Bunci Barot and his sisters Veena Barot and Vidya Barot, who predeceased him. He attended Gujarat University, where he was involved in drama and athletics, which he had a deep love for. There, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

In 1959, he furthered his studies in the United States of America, attending the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. He was a proud Wild Cat! There, he earned a Master’s in Economics, a testament to his dedication and hard work.

In 1962, his bride, Kanta Barot, joined him in Kentucky. Soon after, they moved to Queens, NY. He started his Marketing career at a top firm in Manhattan. While residing in Queens, Vic and Kanta began to build their family. In 1974, they moved to Middletown, NJ. He retired as Vice President of his company after 42 years.

He was a man of sports and competition. He participated in bowling leagues, played Tennis, and eventually found a love for Golf. He recently boasted about how he “shot his age.” His love for sports reflected his passion and energy‐ which he attributed to his older age‐ a good thing in his eyes. Aside from his love of Golf, his true passion was his family. His wife, Kanta, was the light of his life. Together, they had two daughters, Tejal Barot‐Freibott and Sujata Barot‐Senn. Tejal raised two daughters, Monica and Kayla, alongside her husband, George Freibott. Sujata and her husband, Jeffery Senn, raised Vic’s third granddaughter, Kiran.

Virendra Chunilal Barot was an incredible man who touched the lives of anyone he met. He was a father, husband, brother, grandfather, cousin, and friend of many. He traveled far away from his home overseas and pursued a successful career while building a beautiful family. He was fiercely passionate, incredibly intellectual, and deeply caring up until his last breath. We are beyond lucky to have had a role model like him as a part of our lives.

My beloved Bhaiya, my Big Brother, has left a big void in my life. Most loving, helpful and caring person who was always there when occasions called for it. I arrived in NYC from Nairobi in July 1969 at the age of 20. Virendrabhai, Bhabhi and Tejal (4 years old at that time) were at JFK to pick me up. If it wasn't for them, I would have been totally lost in that giant place called New York! I was groomed by him so I could easily fit into the fastpaced work culture. I settled down well and progressed in my life. Bhaiya and Bhabhi gave me away in marriage in September 1973 in NYC. When I moved to India in 1991, Vicbhaiya talked me into playing golf. That was the best thing that happened to me. We looked forward to visiting each other....in USA or India....whereby we could get in as many golf games as possible. Golf was his passion and it has become mine too. Bhaiya, I am going to miss playing golf with you, your mentorship and love ❤️. Your enthusiasm, jolly nature and love for family and friends is a rarity. Rest in Peace my dear Bhaiya. With lots of love, Your sis Charu
