William H. Nash, 94, of Holmdel, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, at home.
William, known as Bill, was born in Newark and raised in Belleville and Bloomfield. He attended the Belleville public school system and graduated from the Montclair Academy. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering. Bill also served for eight years in the US Naval Reserve. After graduating from NCE, Bill accepted a position as a methods engineer at Western Electric, where he worked for many years while continuing his education at the master’s level. Later, Bill accepted a position as an engineer at Bell Labs in Holmdel, NJ. After retirement, he began a new career as a computer science lab assistant at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, where he worked for over ten years.
Bill married the love of his life, Grace, in 1955. The two went on to raise their family in Wayne, NJ, Sandy Springs, GA, and Holmdel, NJ. Bill’s devotion to his family was unwavering. He was a Boy Scout as a young man and later served as a Cub Master for one of the Boy Scout troops in Holmdel. He was a member of Phi Beta Tau at NCE, a pilot, and a member of Tower Hill First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank. Bill was also a member of the Noreg Lodge of Sons of Norway in Marlboro and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
William is predeceased by his daughter, Leslie Carol.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Grace; his children Jaime Nash, Leigh Nash, Derek Nash, wife Ayelet, and Carey Nash; and by his loving grandchildren Daniel and his wife Katherine, Laura and her husband Teddy, Katherine, Amanda, Wyatt, and his brother James Nash and his wife Joyce.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, from 11:00-1:30 PM, with a funeral service at 1:30 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733. The burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown.
