William S. Heidel, 76, Shrewsbury, born on April 27,1948 in Perth Amboy, NJ, died at his home, Arbor Terrace Assisted Living, on Sunday, June 16, 2024, after a recent rapid advancement of dementia.
Bill grew up in Hazlet and graduated from Raritan High School. He began working at Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, where he worked for over 40 years, and retired from Lucent Technologies as the Senior Manager of Eastern Regional Network Operations. Bill was a talented man, learning the construction business from his father and utilizing those skills to improve the many homes he owned throughout his life. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and golfing as well as spending time with family, friends, and his dogs at his cabin in the Catskills. Bill enjoyed country music and was a family man who was always willing to lend a hand.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amie and Mike Michalski; his beautiful granddaughters, Allie and Ashlie Michalski; his step children Gavin Webster and Shelby Capone. He is also survived by his former spouse and mother of his children, Kathy Kapps. Bill was predeceased by his son, William S. Heidel Jr, who he is now reunited with after 28 years apart; his parents William and Essie Heidel, and his beloved wife, Kathleen Heidel, who passed in 2021.
Visitation, Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10:00am until the time of the Life Celebration service at 12 noon at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown.
