Helen M. Evanson, 78, of Holmdel passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Willows in Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, NY Helen lived in Staten Island prior to moving to Holmdel 30 years ago. She was a graduate of Brooklyn College and received her Master's Degree from West Chester University. Mrs. Evanson worked as an English Teacher and Guidance Counselor with the New York City School System retiring in 2002. She also loved to read and was an avid gardener. Surviving are her husband of 55 years Robert Evanson, her daughters Jacqueline Ann Evanson-Butler and her husband William Pena of New York City, and Kerri Sue Evanson and her husband Darren Hauk of Dallas, TX, her brothers Edward Henry and his wife Alice, and James Henry and his wife Debbie, and his grandchildren Emma and Ethan Hauck. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2:00 to 6:00PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A funeral service will be offered in the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00AM. Interment will be in the Holmdel Cemetery.
