Lieutenant Richard E. Stahl, 67 of Long Branch passed away Monday, Dec. 28th at the St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was born, March 18, 1942 at Hazard Hospital, Long Branch and was raised in Long Branch and West Long Branch. He attended Star of the Sea School, Red Bank Catholic High School and was a graduate of Long Branch High School class of 1960. Mr. Stahl was employed at Bendix in Eatontown, and was a Sgt. at Monmouth College Police Department before joining the West Long Branch Police Department from which he retired as a Lieutenant in 2007. Mr. Stahl was an active member of the IAMA, Eatontown Elks , PBA Local 141 and the Italian American Police Society of New Jersey. Mr. Stahl was a past member of Monmouth Shore Points Motorcycle Club, Monmouth County Bias Crime Commission and the Long Branch Elks. He was predeceased by his parents, Gene and Mary Aschettino Stahl and a son Alexander. Survived by his wife Ann Roth Stahl; his children, Michael, Tammy, Robyn, Thomas & Anthony Stahl, Tiffany & Keith Noonan and Ian Rivera; his grandchildren, Brittany & Samuel Stahl, Kiaya Fitzgerald, Lily & Lincoln Noonan; and his siblings, John Stahl, Bobby Stahl and Lois Lamphere. Visitation will be Wed., Dec. 30th, 3 PM until the time of the service at 7 PM, at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street at Broadway, Long Branch.
