Caroline Deirdre Van Dyke, 47, Oceanport, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 12th at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, after a prolonged illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Long Branch, Caroline was raised in Oceanport, lived in Surfside Beach, SC before returning to Oceanport. She graduated from Shore Regional High School and Seton Hall University where she studied Political Science.
Caroline was intelligent, caring, insightful and quick witted. She spent much of her time reading and watching mysteries, writing, and pursuing her hobbies including quilting. Caroline was passionate about politics, history, sports, and her faith. The true focus of her life was her family. Caroline was very involved in the lives of her siblings, nieces, and nephews, enthusiastically supporting their endeavors. She helped her siblings care for their mother until their mother’s passing 3 months ago. She was also the inspiration for a trip of a lifetime to Ireland that she and her sisters and brothers took their mother on last summer. Caroline faced life’s challenges with grace, was an example of God’s love and was fiercely loved.
Surviving are her siblings Kyle and Annette Van Dyke, Chippewa Falls, WI, Joseph & Laine Van Dyke, Charlottesville, VA, Kelly and Stephen Valinoti, Oceanport and Alison and Brad Doughty, Surfside Beach, SC and her nieces and nephews, Kayla, Elise, Julia, Kylie, Ryan, Savannah, Sienna, Hazel and Joseph.
Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, July 15th 10:00 am at Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch.
