Rosemary 'Toots' Cerone, 97 of Tinton Falls, died peacefully on Monday, December 8th. Mrs. Cerone was born and raised in Newark lived there until moving to Sea Bright in 1979. She later moved to Long Branch before moving to Tinton Falls. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Red Bank and a member of the St. Ann's Society. Rosemary was a member of the Sigma Rho Gamma Sorority for over 60 years. Toots was a Waitress at Thomms Restaurant, Newark for many years. Toot's and her high school friends and their husbands had formed their own club known as The Friends Club, they traveled the world together and kept many family and friendship traditions with monthly get together's at each family's home. Rosemary was a kind and honorable woman, who always had a smile on her face. She was always dressed to the nines, from her beautiful hats, pins to matching pocket books to her beautiful suits. Often, Toots, would be mistaken for Queen Elizabeth. Her great passion was her family, the love of her life whom she married in 1942, Aldo Cerone, her two children Patti O'Connor and Rick Cerone, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Toots, traveled the world extensively with her family. She loved sports, never missing her son Rick's little league, Pop Warner, high school and Seton Hall games culminating in watching Rick play for the New York Yankee's. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Aldo Cerone and her son-in-law, John O'Connor. Surviving her son Rick Cerone, Long Branch and Franca DiLisio; her daughter Patti O'Connor, Oceanport; her sister, Kathryn DiGiovanni and her son, Joey Tinton Falls with whom she lived; her grandchildren, Jennifer Mazza Macioch and her husband Chris, Jessica, Carly and Nikki Cerone; her great grandchildren, Drew, Cameron and Christian. Visitation, Wednesday Dec. 10th, 4 to 8 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. The funeral mass will be offered Thursday, Dec. 11th, 11:30 am, St. Anthony of Padua Church, 121 Bridge Avenue, Red Bank. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, West Long Branch. In lieu of flowers, contributions in the memory of Mrs. Cerone may be made to The Monmouth County Food Bank.
