Laura Napolitani Stoop, 64 of Little Silver, died at her home on Monday, November 30th.
She was born and raised in Long Branch, graduated from Long Branch High School in 1974, where she played on the Varsity Basketball team. Following high school, Laura went to Eastern Kentucky College where she received her Associates in Nursing and became an R.N. She returned to New Jersey and became and Infusion Nurse at Monmouth Medical Center. Laura went on to work for Option Care doing home care Infusion, where she cared for many and developed many lasting relationships.
Laura loved being in the gym with her friends and enjoyed working out with her daughter to compete in Triathlons. She was an avid golfer and a member of Sun Eagles Golf Club and enjoyed their annual trip to Hilton Head, SC. Laura loved all animals especially dogs.
Her great pleasure was her family, gathering the family every Sunday for sauce, or listening to Z100 with her daughters. She hosted Thanksgiving every year and her yearly Super Bowl party.
Laura was pre-deceased by her parents, Laura and Mario Napolitani and her sister-in-law, Geri Napolitani.
Surviving is her husband of 41 years, Henry Stoop; two daughters and sons in law, Kristin and John Pallonetti, Fair Haven and Lauren and Charles Atwood, Old Bridge; brothers, Steven Napolitani, Sr., West Long Branch and Jim Napolitani and Theresa Smeriglio, Long Branch; her sister-in-law, Patti Stoop and Louis Ramirez and her brother-in-law, Michael Stoop; nieces and nephews, Jodi Napolitani and her husband Mark Gesell, MD, Steven and Jennifer Napolitani, Alexis Stoop and Jenny Ramirez; her four cherished grandchildren, Colson, Jack, Reece and Vivian.
Visitation will be Thursday Dec. 3rd, 3 to 7 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, Dec. 4th, 10 am, Holy Trinity RC Church, Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. I just heard about my friend and my nurse Laurie's, passing. I send my condolences to Laurie's husband and children. Laura started visiting when our children were in college and together we shared our graduations, new jobs, wedding celebrations and best of all grandchildren. We also shared the difficuties of raising children into adulthood and our aging parents. We shared the commonality of our Italuan backgrounds and of course many recipes.
Laurie handled her illness like no other. She was so strong and lived with a great quality of life. She lived life to the fullest. I'm sure my reflections do not come as news to the family. But I want the Stoop family to know how I admired and appreciated Laurie. Truly, a one of a kind person.

I went to school with Laura's brothers, Steve, and Jimmy. I got to see Laura quite often walking her dog past my house in Little Silver. She always stopped to talk about the girls-hers, and mine.
