Samir is survived by daughter Sophia Jacob Kalajian, her husband Henri Kalajian granddaughter Lara Kalajian and grandson Anton Kalajian. Samir is preceded in death by his brothers Antoine & Moni Yacoub and sister Fifi Harfoush.
Samir was born on March 3, 1941 in Port Said, Egypt. He was a merchant sailor and travelled the world for many years exploring new countries and cities that he always talked about during story telling time. After settling in the US, he moved to Staten Island, NY, he began working as a chef at Ramada Inn and then owned and operated many small restaurants and eateries in the 1980’s and 90’s. He was a dedicated father to his only daughter and a devout grandfather to his two grandchildren. He was a skilled seaman, artist, chef, chess player and mechanic. He was a gentle, kind person and a friend to everyone. He loved to be around for his grandchildren; teaching them, cooking for them, giving them all his undivided attention.
He will be missed forever and the memories of him will be with us always. May God rest his soul.
