I ran across an old report card of mine from 2nd grade and Ms. LaBove was my teacher. I'm sorry to see that she's recently passed, but glad that she had such a long life. Ms. LaBove was one of my favorite teachers and I always remembered her.

Thelma was the most wonderful family member, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great aunt. She was an incredible matriarch and the ultimate role model. I loved her and will miss how cultured, intelligent, and kind she was. I will never forget how much help she gave me when I first started teaching and how special the phone calls we had while I was interviewing were.

Thelma was my second and fifth grade teacher. She was a very special person as I’m sure you are aware. I was a difficult student but she got through to me with strong sincere and loving lessons. My friend Ralph Apicelli and I had her both second and fifth grade along with the whole fifth grade class. She told us she hand picked her fifth grade class and it was the same students as second. Ralph and I visited her at the school when we were in our early 20s, she recognized up right away and we were both so happy to see her and her incredible smile and energetic and loving way. My deepest condolences to your family I can’t imagine my life without her. God Bless and keep her we will meet again one day.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Sending my sympathy and condolences to my old friend Phillip and his family for the loss of his mother Thelma. Growing up in Deal, I would spend many hours playing sports in the back yard at their home on Brighton Ave. and on rainy days, Phil and I would play board games inside. His Mom would take time out to make us sandwiches for lunch in between her at home music lessons given on their home piano. She would marvel at my ability to shimmy up the rain gutter on the garage to retrieve various baseballs, tennis balls and footballs that were stuck up there. Sometimes she would drive us to the family owned La Boves restaurant on Ocean Ave. in Asbury Park to eat lunch. She leaves me with many fond memories and her kindness to me will never be forgotten. May she rest in Peace and her family be comforted by her memory.

My three daughters had your mom as their teacher a total of four times because she moved from being a second grade teacher to fifth grade so one had her twice. We insisted that the other two girls had her because she was the most caring and loving teacher ever. I remember how she would stay in at lunchtime helping students. I met her a few years ago while doing preop testing at Monmouth Medical Center and just had to give her a big warm hug. We shared very fond memories then that I and my daughters will have forever.

Thelma was not only a dear friend, she was also both of my daughters’ teacher. They were so fortunate to learn not only academically from her, but character building skills. “Mrs.LaBove” was very, very special to them. Thelma had such grace and presence; such a lady. Never talked of her incredible accomplishments which showed her integrity. Our sincere condolences to her family and many friends. Jane Suppa
