Saverio Lasorsa, 70 of Hazlet, died on Monday, December 12.
He was born in Bari, Italy to the late Lucia and Luigi Lasorsa.
Saverio left school and began working at a very early age, and at 15 years old, he moved to New York. He again left school in order to work, and took a job at the Gerber Pottery Factory, and after a few years moved his way up to the position of Foreman. When the Gerber factory moved, Saverio decided he wanted to stay local and acquired a job as an auto body painter for T&J Autobody where he worked for many years then later at Lentz Autobody where he continued to work until retirement.
Saverio met the love of his life, Pia, they married in 1978, and began their family shortly after.
He was a workaholic who enjoyed watching western movies and shows on his downtime. Saverio also enjoyed hunting, horse riding, going to Sandy Hook Beach whenever it was warm, and taking his daughter to the shooting range. Most of all, Saverio loved spending time with his family. Family meant everything to him. He will always be remembered for his kind and quiet nature, and his loyalty to those he loved.
He is predeceased by his parents, Lucia and Luigi Lasorsa, and his sister, Marta Mele.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Pia Lasorsa, his son, Louis Lasorsa of Hazlet, his daughter Rosa Lasorsa of Hazlet, his siblings Rosa Lasorsa Davi, Carmela Farroni, Frank Lasorsa, and Chiara Paciullo, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 15 from 5 pm – 8 pm at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road, Holmdel. A Funeral Home Service will be offered at 7:15 pm. Cremation will be private.
