Karen Alexis Sullivan, 75, of Colts Neck, died on Monday, August 11.
Karen was born in Newark to the late Rachel (Onnembo) and John Kopecke. She was raised in Kearny and graduated from West Orange High School. After high school, Karen attended Seton Hall University and later went on to receive a master’s degree from Oxford University. She worked as an elementary school teacher for the West Orange Public School District but later changed careers and became a graphic design artist, working at NBC for several years before retiring.
Karen and her husband are the owners of Wind Song Farm, where she enjoyed raising and breeding racehorses, many of whom won several state championships. She was also the author of several children’s stories, including Ratie.
Karen is predeceased by her parents and is survived by her loving husband John Lawrence Sullivan.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14 from 2pm – 5pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, August 15 at 10am at the Parish of St. Mary, 1 Phalanx Road, Colts Neck.
