William J. Barfoot Jr, known as Bill to most, 78, of Singer Island, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026 in New Jersey. He was born on February 1,1948 in Morristown, New Jersey.

For over 40 years, Bill served in the insurance industry, and built a life anchored in “hard work, honesty, kindness and never missing a single practice, game or event of his sons.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Frances Scharaldi Barfoot, his children Michael Ryan Barfoot and Brendan James Barfoot, daughters-in law Melissa Barfoot and Jenny Barfoot and grandchildren Scarlett, Michael, Hallie and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents William James Barfoot and Aileen Barfoot, both from Ireland.

He leaves behind a legacy his family will carry forward: the love of family, basketball, golf, the oldies, and craft beer. “He taught his sons to be respectful of women, keep their word, and always be good at directions.” He was a loyal and avid supporter of his college, Saint Francis University of Loretto, Pennsylvania and his major league baseball team, the San Francisco Giants.

Visitation Thursday, September 10, 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey. A funeral Mass will be on Friday, September 11 at 10:00 am at St. Virgil’s Church, Morris Plains, New Jersey followed by burial at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown,  New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
