Accursia “Judy” Cianci, 84, of Mantoloking, NJ and The Villages, FL passed away on Wednesday, August 6.
Judy was born and raised in Little Italy in New York City. After she and her husband Vincent married, they settled in Brooklyn for 10 years, then moved to Staten Island for 30 years. For the last 20 years, they divided their time between Mantoloking, NJ and The Villages, FL, where they enjoyed warmer winters, sitting in their lanai and their retirement life.
Judy had a passion for gardening, and she lovingly cared for her many flowers and plantings. The pride of her garden was her fig tree, and she was always happy to share her figs with all. She loved playing Rummikub with her husband, family and friends. Judy also enjoyed knitting, and her other creative talents included lovingly refurbishing everyday items, making them beautiful and giving them a new purpose. She also was a great cook, and she enjoyed cooking for her family and preparing and hosting abundant and memorable holidays. In particular, she was known for her delicious rice balls, which she made for every event, whether a holiday, a birthday or a backyard barbecue.
Judy was predeceased by her parents Millie (Lucibello) and Patrick Chiarello.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Vincent Cianci, her two sons Jeffrey Cianci and his wife Maryann of Holmdel and Kenneth Cianci and his wife Filomena of Colts Neck, her brother Anthony Chiarello, her five devoted granddaughters Cristina, Sabrina, Julia, Jacquelin and Natalie, and her four great-grandchildren Lucy, Vico, Kavi and Patrick.
Judy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and doctors of the Cardiovascular ICU at Jersey Shore Medical Center for their compassionate care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, August 13 at 9:15am at the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road in Holmdel.
In lieu of flowers, Judy’s family asks with gratitude that donations in her memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
