Carol Wegrzynowicz 68, of Holmdel passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 with her husband by her side. Born in Jersey City, Carol graduated from Saint Anthony High School, received her B.A. in Mathematics in 1967 from Holy Family College, and received her M.A. in Operations Research in 1974 from George Washington University's School of Engineering and Applied Science. She worked for the Office of Naval Research from 1967 thru 1982, Bell Laboratories / Lucent Technologies from 1982 thru 2003, and AT&T from 2004 thru 2009. Carol was a founding member of the Washington D.C. chapter of the National Organization of Women, and she held 4 patents, 5539809 Location Specific Messaging in a Telecommunication Network, 5392357 Secure Telecommunications, 5373550 Transmission of Check Images by Way of a Public Switched Telephone Network, and 5136636 Telephone Connection to Nearby Dealer Using 800 Numbers. Carol was predeceased by her son Joshua Mooney in 2006, and by her parents Joseph and Jean Wegrzynowicz. Surviving are her husband Thomas Mooney, and her brother Joseph Wells and his wife Barbara and their children Steward Wells and Michelle Higgins. A Memorial Mass will be offered Monday, March 31, 2014 10:00AM at St. Benedict R.C. Church 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel. Interment will be in the Holmdel Cemetery.
