Elizabeth W. Sheridan (Griffith), 85, of Marlboro, NJ passed away peacefully at Jersey Shore University Medical Center on Dec. 16th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Elizabeth was born in Ruabon, North Wales, Great Britain on Nov. 30th, 1938. After graduating from Brynhyfryd High School, Elizabeth attended nursing school in Chester, England. After graduation from Nursing School, Elizabeth traveled to the U.S. with a group of British exchange nurses to work in San Francisco, CA. While in California Elizabeth met Martin, whom she later married and together they relocated to Upstate NY where they started their family.
After several years in Upstate NY, the family returned to North Wales in 1974. Elizabeth and her family eventually moved back to the U.S. in 1981 and lived in Tarpon Springs, FL until 2018 when they relocated to NJ to live with their daughter.
Elizabeth was a kind, loving, nurturing lady who spent her lifetime selflessly caring for others. She was immensely proud of her family, her nursing career and her Welsh heritage. During her 40 plus year career as a nurse, Elizabeth enjoyed the many roles in which she served including running an ALF, working as a nurse midwife in Wales, working in many departments such as ER, ICU, CCU, Labor and Delivery, maternity, IV team, and working in home health care.
During her spare time Elizabeth loved traveling, sightseeing, watching sunsets, visiting parks and beaches, long nature walks, birdwatching, knitting, crocheting, spending time with family and attending arts and craft shows. She also loved animals and adopted countless strays over the years.
Elizabeth was a very strong, independent and resilient woman who was the rock of her family. She was a source of endless unconditional love, support, guidance, and nurturing for everyone who loved her. While Elizabeth could be shy and reserved at first, once you got to know her she was fun loving and easy going. She was a lady of strong integrity, faith, trust, love, and loyalty and left a lasting impression on everyone who’s lives she touched.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Cledwyn and Gwladys Griffith, her brothers Peter, Hugh, John, David, her sister Alice, her adoring son “Rickey” and her husband Martin.
Left to cherish her memory are her children David Sheridan, Tami Sheridan-Orlando and her husband Joseph, sister Nansi Littley, her 4 grandchildren Gareth, Lexie, Kayleen and Nicolas, many nieces and nephews, her friends, and her beloved cat, Pumpkin.
There will be a memorial service on Friday Jan 19th, 2024 from 3pm to 6pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733 followed by a graveside service on Saturday Jan 20th, 2024, 11am at Holmdel Cemetery, 900 Holmdel Rd, Holmdel, NJ 07733
