Barbara Sazani New York
Always remember Father for his kindness always listened and his thoughtfulness. God give your soul peace. Will always be in our hearts.
I met Father George only 1 time, when my sister called him to perform the Last Rites for our mom. We could not get a Catholic priest to come and she knew him socially from her town. He was more than happy to come to pray for our mom at her death bed. From this one encounter I could tell he was a man with great compassion for all. I am eternally greatful for this. God has taken another saint to heaven. My sister, Eileen, and I send our deepest sympathies to the Dounelis Family.
Dear Kathy,we write with such great memories from so many years ago in NY as well as such great sadness. Fr. George was special to both of us. He will always be remembered as a friend full of life, laughter and good will. No one had a bigger or more compassionate heart. May our Lord keep you strong in this time of great sadness. Eternal memory to our friend. With love, Sandy and John
We are saddened by the news and we are praying for his family. He was a wonderful priest and friend and the world will be empty without him. There is comfort in knowing he will be with Jesus in heaven.

Father George you were a very close friend of the family and will be missed. Although I was baptized Roman Catholic when my brother Alex's son Jason was born he wanted me to be the godfather so you were the one who baptized me into the Greek Orthodox Church and for that I will always be grateful. Now you are in heaven with your friends Joan & Mike Lambros. With deepest sympathy from Barbara, James, Stephen, Ronald, Christopher & Alex Lambros
Dear Kathy Father George touched my whole family. Now he is not suffering. I will miss him dearly and now he is With my wife Maria who adored him. May the Lord watch over you and your family. John Xouris and boys
There are no words to describe the loss of this great spiritual leader. I would have lost my way so many times if I did not have Fr. George in my life. I believe we witnessed something of a wonderful miracle in Fr. George: he was a man without agenda, except for love and the Gospel. He loved unconditionally, and was a steadfast light in our lives. He was able to disarm frustrations, inspire with hope, and bring calm like no other. I pray that my son might grow up to be a man of Fr. George's integrity and compassion. I cannot describe how loved he made me feel. Fr. George hurt intensely with his people, and embodied grace. He was always calling me out of my tomb. I trust he is at peace, and can truly rest now, until he is called again. We will miss him for the rest of our lives. Our deepest condolences to his family on his passing. I pray they find comfort in the joy and wonder he created, with his warm, bright light.
I can't express my deepest sympathy to the family! Father George was such a great man helped everyone the best way he could build our church that we have today! May he rest eternally! We love you and will never forget you!!!
We were parishioners at Kimisis for a few years before moving to South Carolina. In that short period of time we saw what a wonderful, compassionate and loving man Father George was. Even in the intervening years he was always there for us without question. We shall miss him very much and await till our time comes to be reunited with him once again. May his memory be eternal.
My deepest condolences to the entire family. Father George will be deeply missed. I Thank him for all the guidance he gave. May you Rest In Eternal Peace...With Much Love, Bruno, Voula, Maria Bumbaca xoxo
To the Family of Fr George Dounelis, My deepest sympathies to all. Fr George was not only my priest but a great friend. He baptized my daughter, Melissa and my son, John Francis. We went to Kimisis for many years and I joined the Parish Council to help Fr George run the church. I had many wonderful moments with Fr George. When I went through a divorce back in 1991-92 Fr George was so good to me, giving me support and prayers every day to get me through this hard time. I believe that through the power of God, Fr George saved my life. I will always remember the kindnesses that he gave me and all the love without hesitation! He was a remarkable priest and friend. He always had a twinkle in his eye. I loved him dearly. Frank Georges

"Well done thou faithful servant of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ."
This is heartbreaking news. He was our priest for just a few months when he baptized our son back in the days when we worshipped at the Beers Street School. Father George was such a wise and thoughtful spiritual leader, one who welcomed all to our church and set the example for Orthodox Christian compassion and love. His ministry was truly to the people of our parish. It is no wonder he was so beloved by us all. He can never be replaced in our hearts. Memory Eternal and may his immediate family find peace in the memory of the love they shared with him.
My deepest sympathy for Fr. George's family. He will be watching over you and everyone who loved him. Father George was always there for me and my family from the first day I walked into Kimis Church 10 years ago. He was a very caring and understanding priest. He will be greatly missed!!!
To Athas and the Dounelis Family Our prayers are with you and your dad. Ray and Sue Sabatino

With our condolences, The Morfit Family
We are so very sorry for your loss. We are praying for you during this difficult time.
Many fond memories growing up on LI
The death of a priest is unlike the death of any other, we feel it differently, deeply. We sense that in losing him, we have lost not only the man but also his unique way of his teachings of God. The voice that spoke of God has been silenced, hands that once blessed are no longer. Fr. George has been the spiritual leader of Kimisis Tis Theotokou, Holmdel NJ for 35 years. He has taken our parish from having liturgy service in a school gymnasium to now a beautiful church on a hill that will forever be a beacon of hope.
My deepest sympathy to Father George's family. My prayers are with them. How fortunate I was to be included in the trip to Israel in 2011 with Father George. I will cherish the memory. May his memory be eternal.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Our sincere condolences to Father George's family. May he rest in peace with our Lord.
Father George is the reason the Kimisis Community stands as strongly as it does today. He was caring, compassionate, kind, loving, and a friend to all who entered through the doors of the Kimisis Community. Father George was also the reason I am now a member of the Kimisis Community and the Greek Orthodox Faith. Father George embraced my family and offered us a true sense of belonging. May God bless the Dounelis family and may you find peace knowing how much he meant to so many people. Father George, may you rest in peace with the Lord.
We are deeply saddened and diminished with the passing of dear Father George. He was the kindest and most giving man to all of us in his parish. We send you our deepest sympathies and heartfelt prayers at this most difficult time. Ernie & Helen Antholis, Diana & Guillaume Maurer, Zoë & Steven Antholis
Beloved brother-in-law, brother in Christ, uncle and great uncle, "When Death's final process Transforms life's earthly trunk Into heavenly scroll, May Christ the redeemer See fit to write thereon: Thou hast been faithful in the shadows. Welcome to the light!"
Gina Kathy Tommy an Georgie. No words are appropriate. Just know that George was a special person an both Roy an I will hold all those memories that we shared. May he rest in peace. Love hugs an strength an double hugs and kisses to Georgie as we know how much they both loved each other
Never has any parish been blest with such a valiant shepherd. His compassion and kindness brought me to Kimisis, and he was there for me at every instance...as he was for all his flock. I know that the angels welcomed him with open arms and that our Lord greeted him and said "well done, good and faithful servant." May he now be our guardian angel.
Please accept our deepest condolences for your family's loss.
