Frederick Wyeth Hock, 90 of Long Branch formerly of Roseland, died Tuesday May 12th at the Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Fred was born in Newark and raised in East Orange. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1942-1946 and entered the V12 program at Princeton University before serving in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Fred received his B.A., LLB & JD from Rutgers University and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar. He was a practicing attorney for over 50 years specializing in Wills, Trusts and Estates. Her served on the Board of trustees of the following institutions; House of Good Shepherd, Hackettstown, NJ, 1970-1990, Community Day Nursery of the Oranges-Maplewood, 1962-1975 and was the President from 1973-1975, Founders Endowment Fund of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, Ny Beta Chapter, 1954-1987, Essex County Chapter of the American Red Cross, 1987-1991, VFW Post 5445- Post Advocate 1955-1990, Northwestern N.J. Estate Planning Council, 1981-1990, Municipal Court Judge, East Orange, 1954-1957, Advisory Council of Maplewood Bank, 1987-1991, Advisory Council of Summit Bank, 1991-1998, Chairman Juvenile Conference Committee City of East Orange, 1958-1962, Essex County Chapter National College Football Hall of Fame, 1960-1970, essex County Chapter of the United Community Fund, 1955-1965, trustee of the Congregational Church of the City of East Orange, 1952-1962 and Trustee of Livingston Olivet Church, Livingston, 1963-1973. Fred was as member of the Marina Bay Club Trustee’s, Long Branch and a member of the Long Branch Old Guard. Fred was listed in the Marquis Who’s Who. Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Ellen Mink Hock; three daughters, Carolyn Fay, Rhonda Downing and Sandra Van Fossen; Fred’s step children, Daniel Weidner, Christopher Weidner and Carolyn Turanick; as well as his loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. In respect of Fred’s wishes there will be a private cremation. There will be a celebration of his life later this year at Fred’s home in Long Branch.
