George Mavrookas, 92, of Colts Neck passed away on Saturday, August 18th, 2018 . Born in Anavryti, Greece he came to the U.S. in 1955, and settled in Perth Amboy before settling in Colts Neck 48 years ago.

He was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy for 60 years. He was a member of the Church Board, and a member of AHEPA. He and his wife Matina were the owners of the Premium Diner in Avenel, and the Colts Neck Inn, in Colts Neck.

George was predeceased by his brother John Mavrookas, and a sister Demetra Mavrookas.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Matina, sons Peter, Dino and Louie Mavrookas, daughters Stella Kolb, Kateina Ganiaris, and Fay Gianaris, by sisters Georgia Papageorgiou and Pota Komini, and by his 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ on Tuesday August 21st from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. . A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Wednesday August 22nd at 11:00 A.M. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 41-47 Wisteria Street, Perth Amboy, N.J. Interment will then follow at the Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel.
