James G. Mazza, MD, 96 of Boynton Beach, died on Friday, April 3, 2015 in Boynton Beach. Dr. Mazza graduated Syracuse Medical School in 1949, he then went on to serve and attain the rank of Captain during World War II in the U.S. Army, with the Public Health Service doing Malaria research. Following his service in the Army Dr. Mazza returned to his hometown of Long Branch and opened his Medical Practice as a General Practitioner. Dr. Mazza retired in 1985. Dr. Mazza was the head of the Family Practice Department at Monmouth Medical Center and was awarded the prestigious Pinnacle award from Monmouth Medical Center. He was pre-deceased by his wife Gladys B. Mazza and their grandson, Cpl. James A. Mazza, Jr., U.S. Marine Corp, as well as his parents, sisters and a brother. Surviving is his wife Essie L. Mazza, his children, James A. Mazza and his wife Victoria and Catherine A. Mazza and her companion, Lorenz Babson; Two grandchildren, Jamie Ann Mazza and her fiance Matt and Megan G. Mazza. Visitation, Sunday, April 19th, 2 to 6 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Funeral services Monday, April 20th, 9 am at the funeral home, followed by a mass of christian burial 10 am at St. Michael's RC Church, Long Branch. Interment Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
