Jean Calabrese Cosentino, 98 of West Long Branch, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on June 14th, 2023.
She was born in Newark, NJ to her parents Thomas and Maria Calabrese and moved to Long Branch when she was ten. She graduated from Long Branch HS where she met the love of her life Art and married him in 1946. They built their home in West Long Branch where they raised their family.
She worked at Fort Monmouth during and after WWII as a secretary. She also worked as a secretary in the data processing office at Long Branch High School from 1964-1992.
Jean was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was extremely funny and would make everyone laugh with her stories and antics. Her family was her everything and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends and was excellent at doing both, making it seem so effortless. Everything was always so delicious and was enjoyed, especially her Christmas Eve dinners of the Seven Fishes. Jean also took pride in keeping her immaculate home.
She was an excellent card player and loved all different types of card games, especially Scat 31. She also loved playing dominoes and corn hole. Jean enjoyed the yearly family trips to the Outer Banks. She will be very missed by all.
Jean is predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1976. Her sisters Teresa Dilger, Carolyn Speck and brother Joseph Calabrese. She is survived by her son Arthur Cosentino and daughter-in-law Fran, daughter Karen Raddatz and son-in-law Chris. Her grandchildren Paul (Cynthia), Kristi (Leo), Jennifer (Katharine) and Camryn (Isaiah). Her great-grandchildren, Mina, Isabella, Dominic, Brandon, Grace and Francesca and many nieces and nephews. Also, her dear night aide Marie and the family dog Lulu who was always by her side.
