Karen Rebecca Simmons, nee Sapp was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, niece and friend. She left this world suddenly on July 7th, 2022 at the age of 60 years old.
She was born to Daniel and Dorothy Sapp on November 12, 1961 in Long Branch, NJ. Her battle with medical issues in recent years showed her courage and did not damper her love for life and her family. Karen was the strongest person her family had known and had a stubborn streak that ran a mile long and often infuriated her loved ones because of it. Karen grew up in Oceanport, attended Oceanport schools and graduated from Shore Regional High School in West Long Branch. She went on to get her Cosmetology-Hairstyling license after graduation. In recent years she assisted her husband in running Simmons Mechanical, their heating and cooling business.
Karen enjoyed gardening, particularly growing lavender and peonies. She loved cooking chicken cutlets and pasta fagioli. Karen’s constant companion was her beloved Chocolate Lab, Bosco who sadly passed before his human Mom. Karen was a member of Oceanport First Aid Squad and the Oceanport Ladies Auxiliary Hook and Ladder. She and her husband, Bob attending annually the New Jersey Firemen’s Convention as well as the Elk’s Convention.
Karen is predeceased by her parents Daniel and Dorothy Sapp. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years Robert “Bob” Simmons, her children who were her world, Adam and his fiancé Lauren Tambini, Kyle and his longtime girlfriend Kimberly Hulse, Bobby, Peggy Nichols and her husband Mark, and Stephanie Sinigaglia and her husband Kevin, her mother Elizabeth MacKenzie Sapp, her sisters Kathy Kenny and her husband Robert and Beth Mannello and her husband James; her aunt Virginia Mathys and her husband John, her grandchildren, who she adored and loved to spoil Shianne, Alexis and Karalynn and many nieces, great-niece, nephews and cousins.
